Sega Games Co. Ltd. (Twitter: @SEGA), a Japanese multinational video game developer and publisher has partnered with Sanrio (Twitter: @sanrio) to launch a range of SEGA’s hit video game franchise, Sonic the Hedgehog inspired consumer products.

The first phase roll-out of the collection will include ten-inch plush figures featuring mash-ups of SEGA’s Sonic, tails, Knuckles and Amy with Sanrio’s popular Hello Kitty, Badtz-Maru, Chococat and My Melody followed by a second phase that’ll consist of a range of plush and collectable vinyl figures from Toynami, another American toy company along with SEGA and Sanrio character designs.

Both brands enjoy a loyal fan base along with a long-established image of being the creators of some of the most whimsical characters that can resonate with all age groups and generations. This partnership can be seen as a part of SEGA’s strategy to reinforce the relevance, longevity and strength of its hit franchise – Sonic the hedgehog.
