Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, globally known as P.V. Sindhu, is an Indian Professional badminton player who brought fame to the country by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Although Sindhu has assumed many ‘first-ever’ titles till date - the first ever Indian women's singles player to win a medal at the Badminton World Championships and youngest recipient of India's fourth highest civilian honor, the Padma Shri, the 21 year old shuttler is now all set to become the highest earning non-cricket athlete in the country.
Sindhu has recently signed a 50-crore deal with Baseline Ventures, a sports marketing, entertainment and licensing company that will manage her brand profiling, endorsements and licensing for a period of three years. This deal puts Sindhu on top of the charts of the list for licensing deals bagged by the non-cricket players beating top players like Saina Nehwal and Sania Mirza.
Baseline Ventures will carefully select the companies that relate positively to Sindhu’s public image. Reportedly, 16 companies have extended endorsement offers to Sindhu, who has narrowed it down to 9 offers that she will be signing by the end of next week. She has decided not to endorse brands with a 'negative' influence.
